Manifesto

A declaration of independence: the promise to treat you as a person, not as data. This is what I believe and, above all, what this site's architecture enforces.

This manifesto is the guiding principle of every Xiringase project, the Asturian-rooted web-editorial-cultural initiative behind this site. labs.tever.es is one of those projects, and that is why every technical decision here grows from the same convictions.

What I add from the research side

Open science

Progress happens as individuals and as companies; but also as a community.

Working in the open is not about sharing everything or giving away every working hour: it is about contributing your piece to the community you learn from. A method that worked, a datum that saves someone else time, a documented mistake so no one repeats it. Knowledge grows when it circulates; that is why I publish what I do — including the paths that led nowhere — and share whatever may be useful to whoever comes next.

Tradition and technology

Tradition is not what is old: it is what has held.

When you study a tradition seriously, you discover that those who built it were the avant-garde of their time: they experimented, failed and refined with the tools they had to hand. Tradition is knowledge validated by generations, not a museum piece. Using today's technology to understand and extend it is not a betrayal: it continues exactly what they were doing. The gaita and code are, for me, two forms of the same gesture.

Not promises: architecture

A manifesto without practice is mere rhetoric. That is why these principles do not live on this page alone: they are written into how I handle —or rather, how I do not handle— your data. No analytics that identifies you, no tracking pixels, no tracking cookies, no fingerprinting.
