About

I research music through code and technology through its roots. I am a computer engineer, teacher and gaita player; my work sits at the exact intersection where computer science and Atlantic musical heritage meet to tackle complex problems in analysis, preservation and education.

Research in the open

labs.tever.es is my open research space. Here I build tools, test algorithms and document the path. I do not see technology as a modern or aesthetic end in itself, but as a dimension that lets us ask deep questions of traditional music and find answers that were once technically out of reach.

My current research focus is Automatic Polyphonic Music Transcription (AMT), a frontier area within Music Information Retrieval (MIR).

My work centres on analysing the datasets and methodologies specific to piano transcription. There is already a line of work I am reviewing and contributing to through my experiments. I am also working on extending AMT to further musical instruments.

My approach to science and academia is not purely theoretical; it grows from the need to build real solutions and share them accessibly. My profile has taken shape through two strands that constantly feed into each other:

Engineering and technological innovation

Musical rigour and performance

MIR

Music Information Retrieval (MIR)

Tradition is preserved by using it

Tradition is not preserved by locking it in a display case or treating it as a static relic; it is preserved by understanding it, using it and challenging it with the tools of our time. If you are interested in the crossing point between computation and music, explore my publications, try the code I share on the blog and collaborate in this space of experimentation.
